For New Clients

Psychologists are professionals trained to assess, diagnose, and treat a full range of emotional, behavioral, thinking, and relationship problems. Psychologists have a unique combination of professional and scientific training that enables them to provide empathic, effective and up-to-date care.

Dr. Davis will work with you in a warm and compassionate manner to understand your problems and find ways to help you resolve them. Expect John to give you the opportunity to talk openly and confidentially about your concerns and feelings. John collaborates with you to help you to help yourself so that you take away knowledge and skill that will serve you well long after your work with John has concluded.

Usually your first appointment will be made by phone. When you talk with John, expect him to ask about what concern you would like help with, and how you decided to call him. John will ask for some basic information about you, including your name and address, and your phone number. He will also discuss fees.

When you meet with John for the first time, he will ask you to describe your problem in detail, and how it affects your life. John will ask about your personal and health background, people who are important in your life, and other health practitioners who are involved in your care. He will explore goals you hope to reach, and talk with you about how long to work toward your goals before you can expect to see some change. John will discuss whether additional psychological assessment will be needed, and the treatment options that he recommends for your consent. Service fees, confidentiality, limits of confidentiality, and communication with family and professionals involved in your care will also be discussed.

The biofeedback and neurofeedback training that John offers involve very sophisticated technologies, but expect John to explain as many details as you would like to hear about, and provide the service in a supportive and understanding way that you will feel comfortable with.
